The View Celebrates Longtime Host’s 70th Birthday
Whoopi Goldberg turned 70 on November 13. She was born in New York City and lived an adventurous life. The Oscar-winning actress and comedian joined The View as a moderator in 2007. She recently said that she doesn’t plan to retire anytime soon.
Joy Behar was missing from Thursday’s episode after an injury. But Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin were there to help Whoopi celebrate the milestone birthday. Joy was there in spirit. She sent a homemade baked lasagna for her friend and co-host.
Whoopi Goldberg walked out to on-screen confetti and a huge birthday banner. She provided the studio audience with sweet treats from Carl’s Bakery and more of her favorite spots in NYC. She told the shocked audience that she had to switch bakeries after her birthday last year because they refused service. Whoopi Goldberg claimed it was due to political differences.

Move over Oprah Winfrey! The former talk show host used to have an annual “Oprah’s Favorite Things” giveaway on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Whoopi Goldberg has taken on the torch. The longtime host of The View made her birthday an annual giveaway event on the ABC talk show.
She gifted one member of the studio audience a brand-new Lucid Gravity Electric SUV valued at $79,900. She chose the winner at random. But not everyone was happy about the massive gift.

Winning a new car as a gift would be a big deal for most people. But one fan took to social media to blast the stunt as “fake.”
“Today feels so fake. She clearly had to pretend to do today cause her contract,” the viewer wrote on social media. A lot of fans have accused Whoopi Goldberg of not really wanting to be on The View anymore and just going through the motions.
The comedian’s fans jumped to her defense. One fan wrote, “I think she did a great birthday giveaway and looked like she was enjoying herself.”
Another added, ” I didn’t feel like she was pretending, she always seems happy to share about charity works and volunteering.”
According to a third fan, “The audience got quite a nice haul of Whoopi’s giveaway!”
