Sherri Shepherd Gets Huge Honor

The former host of The View received a huge honor among the Hollywood elite. She was on hand in Hollywood, California, earlier this week to unveil a star with her name on it on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame. Fifteen blocks boast 2,827 stars for actors, directors, and other famous people. Nightmare on Elm Street actor Robert Englund was among this year’s honorees.

Niecy Nash-Betts and Tyler Perry gave speeches to honor their long-time friend and collaborator. “I want to say thank you to my family, who put up with me, who came to see me at the comedy clubs,” Sherri Shepherd said in a speech.

The Truth Behind The View Exit

Years before hosting her own daytime talk show, Sherri Shepherd sat at the roundtable on ABC’s The View. The comedian joined in 2007. Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and Rosie O’Donnell were the hosts going into the year. However, Rosie was replaced later that year with Whoopi Goldberg. Sherri Shepherd joined a month later.

But her time on the talk show was relatively short-lived. She departed in 2014. Sherri left on good terms and has returned several times to promote various projects. She recently welcomed former Saturday Night Live cast member Ego Nwodim to the Sherri show. Ego Nwodim left SNL in September after seven seasons.

Sherri Shepherd made a shocking admission about her exit from The View. She didn’t quit. She was fired! “I cohosted The View for seven years,” she told the SNL alum.

She continued, “I started feeling like I’ve got to leave, I want my own talk show, and I have to leave. I didn’t know they had fired me before that!”

Before Sherri Shepherd got a chance to quit The View, they fired her! She revealed why she wanted to leave in the first place.

“It was that thing that does come up, it was just time. If I don’t do it now, it will be stability, and I don’t want stability,” Sherri Shepherd explained. Whether she quit or was fired, it turned out to be the best move for her career.
