‘The View’ Fans Worried After Whoopi Goldberg Goes MIA

There has been a lot of chatter in recent months about the future of The View and its moderator, Whoopi Goldberg. While she said she doesn’t plan to retire soon, fans fear the network could fire the popular co-host. The hosts of the ABC talk show have reportedly been warned to dial down the political talk.

With those fears in mind, fans worried when Whoopi Goldberg was unexpectedly missing from the September 30th episode of The View. Where was she?

Whoopi Goldberg Makes Shocking Political Commentary

Talk show hosts are on eggshells after what happened to Jimmy Kimmel. The late-night host was suspended for nearly a week after his comments about podcast Charlie Kirk’s murder earlier this month.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! returned to the airwaves last week. But while the show was off the air, the head of the FCC warned that The View and its co-hosts were the next target. The ABC daytime talk show went on its annual break a little early this summer amid cancellation rumors.

The View co-hosts were allegedly told to dial down the political rhetoric, especially their commentary about President Trump. Fans noticed when the show returned for a new season in September that the co-hosts didn’t talk about politics as much.

But that didn’t last long. In one recent episode, Whoopi Goldberg blasted President Trump’s speech at the UN.

“I don’t think the world is laughing at us. They are really worried for us,” she said before suggesting Congress invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office.

The View Fans Worried After She Goes MIA

Days after her rant against the President, Whoopi Goldberg unexpectedly went MIA from The View. Her absence came on the heels of Sara Haines and Joy Behar missing Monday’s episode.

Fans are worried something big is going on behind the scenes at the ABC talk show. So, why was Whoopi Goldberg MIA?

Joy Behar stepped in to moderate Tuesday’s episode. She addressed Whoopi’s absence at the start of the show. “Whoopi is out sick today. Sorry about that.”

The View co-host added, “So, get better soon and come back, Whoopi. We miss you.” Joy didn’t share when Whoopi will return. Even when she does return, some fans think the show isn’t what it used to be.

Viewers Rant Against ‘Watered-Down’ Show

The View got a new home in 2024. The production moved from a studio in the Upper East Side to lower Manhattan in New York City. Live With Kelly and Mark made the same move earlier this year.

Moving to a huge, new studio has to be a sign that ABC is invested in the show, right? Not according to viewers. They took to social media to rant about how the show is “watered-down” now compared to what it used to be.

“The View is so watered-down now. Today was only 3 hot topics (Jim Comey, Bad Bunny superbowl, and AI-generated actors), one special guest (Tim Allen), and a View Your Deal segment. Really??? I think a 10 year old could produce a better show than this,” one longtime viewer wrote.

Another fan suggested that low viewership was the reason for the format changes. Let us know in the comments if you think The View is different from what it used to be.
