A beloved daytime legend is joining General Hospital in an exciting arc for the show. One of their co-stars shared a heartwarming story about the daytime icon. Keep reading for all the details on the latest casting news on the ABC soap opera.
Soap Legend Joining General Hospital In New Arc
This year has been an electrifying year for General Hospital fans. The show said a sad goodbye to Jonathan Jackson when Lucky Spencer left town. But the daytime drama brought back several other fan favorites, including Kelly Thiebaud as Britt Westbourne. Ryan Paevey, who played Nathan West on the show for five seasons, returns this Friday in a mystery role after Nathan was killed on the soap in 2018.

A highly acclaimed soap opera legend joins the show in another mystery role. One Life To Live star Erika Slezak is finally filming for the soap opera. It was announced back in June that the actress was cast on the ABC soap.
Fan Theories About Mystery Role
Viewers were initially concerned that Erika Slezak was playing a recast Monica Quartermaine after Leslie Charleson passed away earlier this year. But Jason (Steve Burton) just informed the Quartermaine family that Monica had unexpectedly passed away.
The daytime soap hasn’t revealed who Erika Slezak will play. But the character has some kind of connection to the Quartermaines. General Hospital co-head writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten shared with TV Insider what to expect from Erika Slezak’s arrival.

The character has “surprising connections to the Quartermaine clan and mysterious ties to others on the canvas,” they teased. What does that mean?
Fans are convinced now that Erika Slezak’s character is Monica’s sister. They predicted a battle over the Quartermaine house that Alan (the late Stuart Damon) signed over to Monica during their marriage. “It’s my house, Alan gave it to me” was something General Hospital viewers heard from Monica for decades.
One fan hoped that Monica leaves the mansion to Tracy so Tracy can say, “It’s my house, Monica gave it to me.”
Nancy Lee Grahn Gushes Over New Co-Star
Nancy Lee Grahn is a daytime legend in her own right. But even she was star-struck by working with Erika Slezak. She took to Instagram to gush about her co-star.
Nancy Lee Grahn recounted acting on OLTL early in her career. She shared that she wasn’t on contract and could take on other roles as long as she gave the soap a week’s notice. But that caused problems eventually when she was sued by the soap’s producer for leaving.
As a young actress, she sought advice from Erika Slezak. “She got right in the middle of a lawsuit and stood up for me, because she believed what her boss was doing to me was wrong, and undeserved,” Nancy Lee Grahn wrote. She ultimately won the lawsuit.
Erika Slezak’s first airdate on General Hospital hasn’t been announced yet but it should be soon. Are you excited to see the soap legend’s story arc?
