General Hospital Fans Praise Tribute To Late Actress
Soap fans have suffered the loss of several popular actors in the last few years. Days of Our Lives fans are still dealing with the unexpected loss of Drake Hogestyn. He passed away in 2024 after a private battle with cancer.
Month later, General Hospital viewers felt that same loss when Leslie Charleson passed away. She played Monica Quartermaine for decades.
The soap took its time to honor the late actress, which didn’t sit well with fans. Many called the show out for ignoring the monumental death.
But the ABC soap finally addressed the real-life loss on screen in September when Jason (Steve Burton) discovered Monica had passed away in bed. The death of the Quartermaine matriarch kicked off a storyline about her will and the ownership of the family mansion that her late husband, Alan, had gifted to her early in their marriage.

ABC Soap Star Suffers Devastating Loss Of Father
A favorite actress or actor dying is sad, but it doesn’t come close to the devastation of a loss in real life. General Hospital star Daniel Goddard took to social media to share the heartbreaking news of the death of his father.
“My father has passed away. As I sit here and reflect upon his life, I’m flooded with memories of all the advice that he gave me growing up. We’d always call them tips and tricks. Like, “You’ve gotta look the part to get the part!” And “Take care, save wear!” There were so many that at the time you just don’t seem to understand what it is they’re trying to teach you. But once I became a father and had my own sons, it all started to make sense,” the GH star wrote on a photo with his father.
“Thank you for everything you did for me, Dad. I learned more from you than you ever could have imagined. Rest in peace. I love you, your son… Daniel,” he added.
Fans Show Their Support
Daniel Goddard earned a lot of fans for his portrayal of Cain on The Young and the Restless. He joined General Hospital earlier this year in the mysterious role of Professor Dalton. But he still has tight ties to the cast of the CBS soap. Several of his former co-stars shared their condolences for the loss of his father.
Y&R alum Doug Davidson wrote, “I send my deepest condolences. Losing your corner stones are so difficult, but I know beyond any doubt, he lives on in you and your sons. Keep an eye out, he will give you a sign. God bless him, you and of course your mother.”
