John J. York put it, “game time.” The General Hospital vet, who disclosed in September that he needed a blood-stem-cell transplant to treat myelodysplastic syndrome and multiple smoldering myeloma, shared that same month that a match had been found. Today, it would seem, is the day of the transplant.
“I hope you’ll all take just a minute today to send some healing thoughts to my friend John J. York,” tweeted castmate Jon Lindstrom (Kevin). “It’s a big week, and we would all appreciate your help.”
In response, York sent his thanks to his co-star “and to everyone for your positive thoughts and prayers.”
York has been playing Mac on General Hospital since 1991. At the time he announced that he’d have to be taking at least a short leave from the show, he was right on the verge of a major storyline, one in which his character learned that he and late love Dominique had had a son, Cody.
Certainly, our fingers are crossed and double-crossed for the fan favorite. And the General Hospital cast and crew could sure use some good news in this devastating year that has taken from them producer N’Neka Garland, Jacklyn Zeman (Bobbie), Billy Miller (ex-Drew) and Tyler Christopher (ex-Nikolas).
On your way to the comments to wish York well, stop off at the photo gallery below. It’s a walk down Memory Lane and some of the most memorable moments in General Hospital history.
General Hospital Monday, March 31 Update: Drew’s Betrayal – Jason & Sonny’s Plan Derailed
General Hospital (GH) spoilers update for Monday, March 31, reveals that Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) will face an awful Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) shocker while Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) reacts to a betrayal. Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) plan will also get derailed, so there’ll be a lot happening in Monday’s show.
Let’s start with the wreck Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) just set in motion when she blundered by tampering with Ric’s brakes.
Kristina meant to sabotage Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) car instead, but she ultimately had a change of heart and tried to prevent disaster.
Alas, Kristina will see that she’s too late on Monday’s GH episode.
It’ll be far worse than Kristina could’ve imagined as she peeks at the crash scene and realizes Ric was injured.
Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) will end up at the site of the wreck as well, so he’ll flip out when he sees Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) was in the vehicle with Ric.
Although Lucky will try to race to Liz’s side, a police officer will stop him and let the paramedics do their thing without interference.
Elizabeth will eventually get the treatment she needs at the hospital.
At Charlie’s Pub, Molly will be surprised over Cody visiting the restaurant since he previously got arrested over a brawl there.
However, Cody may promise he’s learned his lesson, so there’s no chance of another one breaking out.
At some point, Molly should get a phone call about Ric’s car crash injuries.
It’ll leave Molly filled with fear, so Cody may comfort her and offer her a ride to GH.
While Molly gets updates on Ric’s medical crisis, Drew will tackle a crisis of his own.
Although Drew will apply more pressure when it comes to getting the Quartermaine crypt bulldozed, things may not work out like he wants.
Drew’s going to face a betrayal in Monday’s episode, so he may blame Ezra Boyle (Daniel Cosgrove) for not getting the job done.
In Toronto, Jason and Sonny’s plan to score the name of the hitman’s client will get derailed.
Soliski might end up shot if he doesn’t play by the rules, but Sonny will refuse to give up on following the tracks he might’ve left behind.
Back in Port Charles, Emma Drake (Braedyn Bruner) will clash with Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) for intervening after she chained herself to the Quartermaine crypt door.
Anna and Emma will do some bickering, but they may understand each other a bit better after talking things out.
Mac Scorpio (John J. York) will also present some proof to Anna regarding a case, so we’ll see if this involves all the Quartermaine crypt chaos or perhaps evidence that Ric’s car was sabotaged.
Finally, Kai Taylor (Jens Austin Astrup) will deliver some stunning news to Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) now that Drew’s offered to pay for a procedure that could help him play football again.
General Hospital spoilers say Trina will see some red flags, so she may make a prediction about this offer being too good to be true!
