General Hospital’s Andrew Hawkes: WSB Director Ross Cullum, Sidwell’s Evil Secret Partner Revealed

General Hospital (GH) spoilers indicate that Andrew Hawkes has joined GH as WSB Director Ross Cullum, who was also revealed as Jenz Sidwell’s (Carlo Rota) secret partner. Cullum made his first appearance in the January 14 episode and made quite a splash as Port Charles’ newest villain!

In an interview with TV Insider, Andrew Hawkes opened up about auditioning for other roles on GH in the past, but they never found the right fit for him until now.

Hawkes is off to a great start as “this kind of quietly ruthless, dangerous, single-minded character.”

As part of the auditioning process, Hawkes read with Laura Wright (Carly Spencer) and felt good about how it went.

From there, Hawkes got the part and admitted he found the amount of dialogue he had to memorize a bit daunting.

Since the ABC soap is such a well-oiled machine, Hawkes had nothing but praise for the show and everyone who makes it happen.

This actually isn’t Hawkes’ first soap rodeo – although his other daytime drama appearance was brief.

Hawkes played a thief without a name on The Young and the Restless in 2014, but it was only a two-line scene.

Now Hawkes is doing a lot more since when he first joined GH, he had to learn 65 pages of dialogue in six days.

Although it’s a ton of work, Hawkes insisted he’s enjoying the challenge of it all.

Director Ross Collum is an intriguing baddie, so fans will be eager to learn more about him.

“He is a character who has seen like the darkest parts of the human psyche,” Hawkes said. “I don’t know how you see some of the things and do some of the things that the character has done and not have that change you and harden you.”

Hawkes will have plenty of interesting scene partners now that he’s made his debut. Director Cullum was already seen interacting with Sidwell, Pascal (Marc Forget) and Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna).

Scenes are coming up with Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) and others as well.

Since Andrew Hawkes is playing the WSB director AND Sidwell’s partner on this twisted Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) project, he’s going to weave a messy tangled web!
