Cameron Mathison has had some tough breaks in the last few years. He split from his wife of twenty years in 2024. A few months later, he lost his home in the wildfires. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 and underwent surgery to remove the cancerous tumor. He’s been working on getting his health back.
With all the chaos of his real life, the actor probably finds stepping on the set of GH to be an escape. His character, Drew Cain (Quartermaine,) was shot in September. Despite rumors that Cameron Mathison was leaving the soap, Drew survived the shooting. But he has no idea who shot him.

Cameron Mathison Says Sad Goodbye To Family Member
Drew is fiercely hated by fans right now because of his shocking attitude change. But his portrayer is a beloved actor thanks to his work on soaps and Hallmark movies. It turns out he’s a pretty good guy in real life, even if he’s playing a villain at the moment.
Cameron Mathison took to Instagram to share a heartbreaking goodbye to a family member. He revealed that it was time for the dog he’s been fostering to leave for a permanent home.
“It’s hard to say goodbye to Hunter, my foster Dobie, but I’m so proud of how far he’s come and excited for what’s next,” the actor shared.
Cameron Mathison shared two weeks ago that Hunter was back with him after an adoption didn’t work out. He previously shared a post in August about the progress the foster pup had made. ”
“He’s doing amazing. He couldn’t be sweeter. He’s so good with people and other dogs,” he wrote at the time. But it turned out that Hunter wasn’t so good with other dogs, after all.
In his more recent post, the actor revealed that he’s still looking for a home for the pup. “We’re looking for the perfect home for him — if that might be you, drop a comment below.

Fans think Hunter already had a home – with Cameron Mathison. The actor’s followers flooded the comments, begging him to adopt the dog permanently.
