GENERAL HOSPITAL: An Emotional Laura tells Sonny, ‘I Had This Strong Visceral Impulse to Call Luke’
Several storylines and key moments made up the Friday, January 9 episode of General Hospital leading to its cliffhanger. Let’s take a look at what went down as Laura (Genie Francis) and Sonny (Maurice Benard), Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Tracy (Jane Elliot), Michael (Rory Gibson) and Jacinda (Paige Herschell), Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) and Trina (Tabyana Ali), and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), Drew (Cameron Mathison), Jason (Steve Burton) and Carly (Laura Wright) all had important exchanges in their scenes.
In a heart-tugging moment, Laura visits with Sonny (Maurice Benard) updating him that Sidwell is getting close to Ava, which Sonny knows is intentional to upset him, because he shares a child with Ava, little Avery. Laura shares how she feels badly about how she dragged Sonny into her mess after finding Professor Dalton dead in the trunk of her car.
Suddenly, Laura remembers when she panicked the night she found Dalton in the trunk. As she combed through her phone of who to call, she admits in tears, “I had this strong visceral impulse to call Luke.”

LUKE AND LAURA
GH harkened back to the days of Luke and Laura and how she felt he would know what to do, because Luke was in the stranglehold of the mob and he went to measures to free himself from those ties, just like she now has to do now with Sidwell. While General Hospital usually tapes 6 weeks ahead of air, it was very touching to see Laura have that moment, given that her long-time co-star, Anthony Geary had passed away back on December 14, 2025 at the age of 78 in Amsterdam. One can assume this dialog was in the story before Geary’s death.
Elsewhere, Tracy comes to see Alexis accusing her of her trickery to get her to out Michael’s whereabouts the night Drew was shot while on the witness stand. Alexis says it’s called “a bluff” and Tracy fell for it. Tracy can’t believe Alexis is working so hard for Willow and pointing the finger at Michael just so she can see her granddaughter Scout. Tracy firmly believes that Alexis is falling for Willow’s “innocent” act.
JACINDA AND MICHAEL CLEAR THE AIR
Jacinda is waiting at the Qs for Michael to come home. When he does, she says she is there to say goodbye and gives him the backpack of money to return to his sister, Kristina. She explains what actually happened the night of Drew’s shooting. As Jacinda recalls, first, she had a drink with Michael. Then, she went on an escort call to see Ezra. But after that. Michael asked her to be his alibi that night. Jacinda confesses she didn’t tell Michael about Ezra, because she was afraid he wouldn’t want to spend time with her.
As Jacinda is in tears, Michael says she took a risk lying for him and understands why she didn’t tell him about Ezra. She explains she is planning on taking the money she has saved and is going to start a life somewhere else. Michael asks her not to go Jacinda agrees to stay and the two share a kiss.
At the Port Charles Grill, Drew and Willow are having a nauseating talk; where Willow is telling Drew how wonderful he is. Meanwhile, Sonny and Carly show up there as well. They sit at their own table and everyone is shooting darts at each other. Goaded by Willow, Drew interrupts Carly and Jason’s meal to remind Jason that he has a restraining order against Danny and he will press charges if Danny is ever again seen around Scout.
WILLOW HAS DREW WRAPPED AROUND HER FINGER
In addition, Drew lays into Carly about keeping Willow’s children from her, and he can’t wait to slam the door in Carly’s face once Michael is sent to prison, and he and Willow have custody of Wiley and Amelia. Carly tells Drew to go to hell and dumps his drink on him, while Willow looks on pleased that Drew got what’s coming to him.
