While there is a lot of violence that goes on in the world on a regular basis, one of the worst forms of it is when grisly crimes go on between family members. A Los Angeles dentist killed his mother, and he recently learned his fate. So, what happened with this situation?
Crimes Happen A Lot Closer To Home Than Some Might Think
When most people think of violent crime, people may think of a jogger getting attacked at night or some other scenario involving someone being at the wrong place at the wrong time. As violent as these types of crimes may be, there are degrees of separation between the perpetrators and the victims.
Other times, however, there is not much separation at all between the person who commits the crime and who they commit it against. In fact, many times, it’s a husband who murders a wife or vice versa. In some cases, however, it’s a parent that murders a child, or that child taking revenge on their parent.
One such case of a child taking out their frustration on their parent happened for one Los Angeles dentist and his mother. Daniel Yacobi was convicted in August of strangling his 67-year-old mother (named Violet) to death. He committed this act of violence at her Beverly Hills mansion in 2017. In addition to financial motives, Yacobi also resented his parents for pushing him into his career in dentistry.

As far as motive is concerned, prosecutors said that Yacobi killed his mother in order to inherit her estate, which was valued at $12M. Back in 2017, Violet’s brother grew concerned when she did not respond to a call about taking her to the mechanic to fix her vehicle.
On the evening of October 10, 2017, Violet was found dead on the marble floor of her home. The home itself was valued at $8M. Daniel was eventually arrested for her murder, as the coroner ruled it a homicide. Making the situation even more eerie, on what would have been his mother’s 68th birthday, Daniel wrote on Facebook, “I know you and Dad are up there smiling down on us.”
For his crime, Daniel Yacobi was convicted on Friday, October 3. He will serve life in prison without the possibility of parole. This was confirmed to PEOPLE by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
