General Hospital alum Marcus Coloma (Nikolas Cassadine) and Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthis) just sparked hopes that Marcus might return to the ABC daytime drama. Of course, fans know he played the role for three years and ended up exiting after rumors that he was fired.
New Hopes For A Return
On October 24, Marcus and Maurice jointly shared an Instagram reel of them walking down a street together. The caption just came with the hashtag, #stayingalive.
Now, that could mean they took in a show. Or, it could refer to his potential return, although Adam Huss took over the role of Nikolas Cassadine. But it’s not the first time that folks hoped for a return of an actor who played the role because of a simple social media post.
However, it could also just refer to Marcus Coloma’s health. Remember, when everyone thought he was fired? His abrupt departure was met with all kinds of conjectures, including the rumors that he was dropped and that he was unwilling to shoot his last episodes.
However, his team communicated that he wasn’t fired and that he left due to health concerns. Later, in late 2024, more details emerged that he developed a rare heart condition. Most folks, however, hoped that he and Maurice walking down the street together meant they might have filmed together.

It seems that nobody is spilling on a potential return, as Marcus didn’t reply. However, Maurice did. But he only put up rows of red hearts when folks spoke about a return to ABC.
As of last year, Nikolas, who disappeared and reappeared, wasn’t played by Marcus Coloma. But then, more than one person has acted the role. He was in prison, and his storyline continued despite that. Recall, he ended up there for holding Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) against her will while she was pregnant with his child.
