Amy Duggar has been the rebel of her extended family for most of her life. However, Amy has never been a follower of the IBLP teachings, which led to her being the outcast of the family. Over the years, she has tried to be respectful of her family’s beliefs. However, after the family recently displayed behavior they previously labeled Amy as crazy for, she has had enough. Keep reading to find out more.

Amy Duggar Is The “Rebel” Of Her Family

Amy Duggar is the niece of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, who rose to fame on the popular TLC reality series 19 Kids and Counting. The show featured the couple and their 19 children. In addition, the large family captured the attention of the audience everywhere with their conservative views. During the filming of 19 Kids and Counting, the females in the Duggar family were not allowed to wear any type of pants. It was considered to be immodest. However, Amy, who did not live by the IBLP teachings, often wore pants and was called crazy by her family members. In addition, a photograph was recently released of Michelle Duggar and all of her daughters wearing pants, and Amy Duggar has had enough of her extended family’s hypocrisy. She commented that she was “Taken aback” by the image.

Amy Duggar Reacts To Michelle Duggar’s Hypocrisy

Amy Duggar spent many years being ostracized from her own family for simply wearing pants. Now it appears the Duggars are no longer following their own rules. Amy opened up about her thoughts on her extended family changing their ways. She said:

“Honestly, I was kind of taken aback. Oh, OK, so now you’re wearing jeans. Now you’re cutting her hair.’ So, the things that were very evil and very rebellious, and the things that I was judged for — I was labeled this crazy girl. Let’s be real here, it was just like a slap in the face in a way of just like, ‘Alright, so all of that for years was for no reason at all. Great.’”

Amy Duggar has mostly distanced herself from her extended family. However, she did participate in the newest documentary on the family, Shiny Happy People: A Teenage Holy War. She is featured alongside her husband, Dillon King. The docuseries, which premiered in 2023, recently premiered the start of Season 2 on Wednesday. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar feel the docuseries is a “derogatory and sensationalized” portrayal of their family’s connection to the IBLP.
