After Massive HGTV Cancellations, Is TLC’s ‘1000-Lb Sisters’ Next?

After massive HGTV cancellations of hit programming, is TLC’s highly successful 1000-lb. Sisters next to be axed? Moreover, why would one think that the two networks have any correlation, and is there a chance the weight loss series could be over? Keep reading for more details.

1000-Lb. Sisters To Be Axed Amid HGTV Cancellations?

It has been a rocky several weeks for fans of HGTV. They have watched six of their favorite shows get canned, and there may be more to come.

Bargain Block, which was a hit due to its relatable content, was canceled after four seasons. Christina Haack lost her show, Christina on the Coast, after five seasons, and Farmhouse Fixer, Married to Real Estate, and Izzy Does It have not been renewed.

This has been a huge blow, leaving viewers wondering what may be next, including over at TLC. This is because both networks are owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.

Could this impact 1000-lb. Sisters, which has been a huge hit for TLC? In the latest season, Tammy Slaton underwent skin removal surgery and found love.

She even got engaged to Andrea Dalton, so it seems she has completed her life transformation. The same goes for her family.

Amy Slaton is content with her weight; she’s engaged and appears to be happy. Lastly, Chris Combs was able to undergo skin removal, so his project is complete. Some feel that the Combs-Slaton-Halterman story has been told now that they achieved their dreams, which was the series’ endgame.

Additionally, the family has faced harsh critique from the Internet for a variety of reasons. It is not always easy to handle, and that could be a reason for the sisters to bow out.

Finally, the last episodes of Season 7 featured a trip down memory lane. That has led some to believe it was TLC’s farewell to the series without outwardly saying anything. Of course, 1000-lb. Sisters has a strong and loyal fanbase, but so did the axed HGTV shows. Therefore, the network may attempt to cut corners wherever it can.

Big Changes

Amy and Tammy Slaton are no longer the 1000-lb. Sisters they were when the series began. Therefore, it could be time to close up shop, or give one of them a spinoff. Fans are not ready to see Tammy’s story end just yet and want to continue to watch her progress. Her new self is softer, sweeter, and determined, which has been a huge selling point:

  • I’m obsessed with sisters! Watching since season one
  • Omg, I’m like sooo obsessed with sisters 💕 Been watching since day one! 👯‍♀️📺
  • Tammy is so funny now

It would be great if the top shows of TLC would not suffer the same fate as those over at HGTV. The future is unknown, but the Slaton sisters would surely be missed.
