Is General Hospital’s Steve Burton Returning to The Young and the Restless?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that we have to ask: Is Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) returning to The Young and the Restless? It wouldn’t be the first time Burton traded GH for greener soap pastures, so we have to consider the possibility of a Y&R comeback.

Burton aired as Dylan McAvoy from 2013 to 2017, so could he soap hop back over to CBS and make a splash in Genoa City once again?

On Instagram, Steve Burton recently announced that he was taking a hiatus from GH in order to spend more time with his family.

Although Burton insisted he’d return to Port Charles this summer, that doesn’t mean he still has a long-term future on the ABC soap.

It’s possible that Burton is exploring other options since he only signed a two-year contract when he returned in 2024.

Now Burton may be open to a more lucrative and accommodating role over on The Young and the Restless.

This happened back in 2012 when Burton left General Hospital with this same story of wanting to spend more time with his family.

Burton quickly snatched up an offer from Y&R with a more flexible schedule, so maybe the same thing could happen now.

Of course, Y&R also has deeper pockets than GH, so it might be easy for the CBS soap to convince Burton to reprise his role as Dylan McAvoy or even come on board as a different character instead.

Regardless, we can’t ignore the fact that Jill Farren Phelps was the executive producer at Y&R back then and arranged Burton’s deal.

Phelps returned to Y&R in recent months as a producer, so she’s on the team and clearly influencing casting decisions.

It’s worth mentioning that big soap names like Roger Howarth (Matt Clark), Tamara Braun (Sienna Bacall) and Matt Cohen (Detective James Burrow) joined the show shortly after fans learned Phelps had returned.

Phelps might want to lure Burton back to Genoa City since a Dylan McAvoy comeback storyline would certainly deliver some drama.

On the other hand, they could let Burton tackle a different part instead depending on what they’re looking for.

Whatever the case, business is business!

If The Young and the Restless can offer Burton a deal that allows him to enjoy more family time and make more money in the process, who could blame him for rejoining Y&R and leaving GH behind?

General Hospital spoilers hint that Jason’s future may be uncertain, so stick with us for updates on any other comings and goings news ahead
