GH recently shared a video on social media that was all about New Year’s resolutions for characters in Port Charles.

Maurice Benard shared what he thought Sonny’s resolution should be and his answer was one many fans agreed with.

In Benard’s opinion, Sonny is lonely and has been that way for a long time.

As a result, Benard is hopeful that Sonny will “get some lovin’” in 2026 and break his current dry spell.

Of course, it’s been nice to see Sonny in father and grandfather mode more often.

Sonny cares about his family and is always working hard to defend them, so he’s managed to stay busy even without much of a love life.

Plus, Sonny has a lot on his plate now that he’s being blackmailed by Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota).

Between protecting himself and protecting Laura Collins (Genie Francis), it’s easy to see why romance has taken a backseat lately for Sonny.

At the same time, GH writers have seemingly been laying the groundwork for Sonny and ADA Justine Turner’s (Nazneen Contractor) mutual manipulation to turn into love eventually.

That didn’t happen in 2025, but the story is still in its early stages and will head in some surprising new directions in 2026.

Sonny and Justine may still get their time to shine as a romantic pairing in the months ahead.

However, plenty of viewers aren’t feeling the vibe between Justine and Sonny at this point.

That’s led to fans on social media rooting for Sonny to fall for someone else instead – whether it be a former flame or perhaps a woman he’s never been paired with before.

Since 2026 will no doubt bring new characters and opportunities for love, anything is possible!

Sonny’s next love may come walking into his life one day in the not-too-distant future.

On the other hand, no one can rule out a reunion for Sonny and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) sooner or later.

Even Sonny and Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) romance could come back around depending on what the writers have in mind.
