A popular General Hospital star recently went under the knife for several surgeries after breaking their leg. Rumors swirled online that the actor was fired from the ABC soap opera after an amputation. The soap star addressed the rumors head-on and shared an update on their future with the show.
Scammers, Fake News Cause Havoc For Entertainment Industry
The internet gives millions the ability to have everything at the touch of a fingers. You can buy anything online and have it shipped immediately. Or connect with your favorite celebrities on social media. Sometimes they respond back. But more likely, it’s a scammer pretending to be the celebrity to steal money from loyal fans.
For example, one General Hospital fan was swindled out of thousands by someone pretending to be Steve Burton. Several Hallmark stars united for a PSA to warn fans of the dangers of online scammers pretending to be celebrities.

GH Star Addresses Amputation Rumors
Scammers aren’t the only online danger. Some sites fabricate news stories for clicks and social media engagement. One GH star responded to rumors that they were fired from the soap after getting a leg amputated.
Carolyn Hennesy has been on General Hospital for nearly 20 years. She joined the soap opera as Diane Miller, attorney at law. The recurring character represents mobster Sonny Corinthos and others in desperate need of legal help.
The General Hospital star informed fans in October that she had suffered a broken leg. She later revealed that she tripped on her dog’s leash amid speculation on the injury. The broken leg required two surgeries.
A wild post on social media claimed that the actress had her leg amputated and was fired from the soap opera. The clickbait post claimed that General Hospital planned to recast the role, presumably with someone who had both legs.

Carolyn Hennesy took to social media to address the amputation rumors. “Kats n’ Kittens…I’m still very much bipedal! That was fake news,” she wrote. What about the Diane recast news?
Reveals Future On Show
Because of her status as recurring, the actress didn’t miss a single day of filming at GH after breaking her leg. Good thing, because the fictional residents of the fictional town of Port Charles, New York, desperately need legal representation.
And that will be Diane Miller for the foreseeable future. ‘As for me leaving the show: they’re gonna have to cart me out feet first from that sound stage. Diane is a permanent resident of Port Charles,” Carolyn Hennesy wrote about her future with the ABC soap opera.

Finally, she wrote, “Much love to all for the tremendous showing of support.” Her General Hospital co-star, Jon Lindstrom, welcomed her to the fake news club. “Aw, you’ve arrived! Welcome to the big leagues, sister. I was recently in a fistfight on set, and then, DEAD,” he commented.
