‘The View’ Whoopi Goldberg Shocks With Future Political Aspirations

Whoopi Goldberg just turned 70. She celebrated with the live audience at the Manhattan, New York, studio where The View films. The actress made waves earlier this year by revealing that she can’t afford to retire from the entertainment industry despite her wealth.

But has she changed her mind? The comedian made a shocking admission this week that she has political aspirations for the future, but only if she’s not on the ABC talk show. Keep reading to find out more about her surprising career goals.

Whoopi Goldberg Shares Surprising Political Aspirations

Whoopi Goldberg has served as the moderator on The View since 2007. She replaced Rosie O’Donnell in the role. As the moderator, Whoopi leads the “Hot Topics” discussions. The hosts of the ABC talk show address what’s going on in pop culture but are mostly known for their political discussions.

The hosts come from various political ideologies. The Ghost actress is a firm Democrat and harsh critic of President Trump. Whoopi Goldberg was recently corrected on-air by producers for her comments about the current administration. It wasn’t the first time she came under fire for her comments, and it won’t be the last.

Fans continue to worry about Whoopi’s future with the show. She hasn’t given any signs that she plans to leave any time soon. However, she already has a career goal in mind for when the show ends.

The View‘s moderator was a guest on the show’s Behind the Table podcast. She revealed shocking political aspirations. “I know this is the craziest thing ever, and it will never happen while [The View] is going on, but I still want to represent our country in another country. I’ve always wanted to be an ambassador,” she said.

While Whoopi Goldberg can be critical about the current state of the country, she loves America. “I think there are terrific things about this country. I know we’re not perfect, and there’s a lot of stuff we’ve got to fix. It’s what I’ve always said: There are great things about us and terrible things about us. We fix what we can, and sometimes we fix it really well, and sometimes we don’t fix it well enough,” she said on the podcast.

The View host added, “I want to bring it back to the people of the U.S., what the people are doing. They don’t have any say in it.”

The chances of Whoopi Goldberg being an ambassador under the current administration are slim to none, but who knows what the future holds.

Why She Won’t Be On The View Next Week

Longtime host Joy Behar was absent for much of the week after an unexpected injury. Whoopi Goldberg will miss The View next week due to a prior commitment.

She revealed on the podcast that she’s going to Italy to shoot a guest role on the country’s longest-running soap opera, Un Posto Al Sole.
