Talk show hosts are rattled after Jimmy Kimmel was briefly suspended from his late-night show in September. Jimmy Kimmel Live! was yanked from the air for several episodes after his controversial comments about podcast Charlie Kirk’s murder.
The shocking decision to suspend the host came months after CBS announced Stephen Colbert’s late-night show was canceled and would end in 2026. ABC’s daytime talk show, The View, has been in the crosshairs for a while. Whoopi Goldberg was livid after a producer corrected her live on-air during a heated political discussion. Keep reading to find out what happened.
Alyssa Farah Griffin Defends Late-Night Host For Avoiding Politics
The goings on in Washington, D.C., have always been used as joke fodder on late-night shows. Jay Leno and David Letterman spent years cracking jokes about President Clinton and his intern mistress Monica Lewinsky. But not all of the current late-night hosts use politics as a punchline.

NBC’s Jimmy Fallon has come under fire for avoiding discussing politics on his late-night show. The View host Alyssa Farah Griffin came to a surprising defense of the decision.
She spoke out about it on the show’s Behind the Table podcast. She said that it was “unfair” to pressure Jimmy Fallon into making political jokes if he doesn’t want to. “I don’t think it should be an obligation if it’s not authentic to you and to your voice to say something,” the talk show co-host said.
The View Host Gets Note From Sunny Hostin During Heated Debate
Whoopi Goldberg has been the moderator on The View for nearly twenty years. She leads the Hot Topics discussion but her recent comments were too hot for TV. During the Monday, November 3 episode, the topic turned to President Trump’s interview with 60 Minutes the night before.
The hosts were talking about his shocking comments about pardoning Binance founder Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao. The cryptocurrency billionaire pleaded guilty to money laundering in 2023 but received a pardon last month. It was one of several controversial pardons under the current administration.
At one point in the heated discussion over President Trump’s 60 Minutes interview, Sunny Hostin discreetly passed Whoopi Goldberg a note. The View moderator took one look at the note and ripped it to shreds.

Whoopi Goldberg Livid Over Producer’s On-Air Correction
During the 60 Minutes interview, President Trump said he didn’t know who Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao is. Whoopi Goldberg joked on the ABC talk show that Trump used an “auto-pen” to sign the pardon. Former President Biden is accused of using the mechanical device to sign pardons virtually instead of putting a real pen to paper to approve pardons and other official paperwork.
The producers of The View were seemingly worried about a lawsuit. While the exact wording of the note to Whoopi Goldberg is unknown, she went off on a huge rant that indicated the producers wanted her to correct herself on-air.
“What the h***? What? We don’t know if Trump used an autopen to pardon, it was a joke,” Whoopi exploded after reading the note from producers.
The livid host of The View continued her rant.“The hardest thing about this job now is no one understands nuance,” she said. Whoopi added, “When I’m making jokes, you know when I’m making jokes! This is ridiculous.”
